Hi all,
I am hoping some of you can help me with you collective experience. I would like to know what I can do to make this photo more engaging. All I have done so far is lighten it a bit in Lightroom. I am in a photography club and we went out and shot some gothic models around an old church. I managed to get a few shots before the church officials kicked us out lol. Oh well still a lot of fun

I thought perhaps a bit of dark drama, for a goth.

BTW—You have turned off the download feature on your Flikr stream, therefore, one can only get the small pix.

Those are both great ideas. Over all how does it look as far as composition, exposure or anything else?

I think it's fine, but as I was editing I was wishing there was some symmetry on her shirt/bra - it seems like I should be seeing at least part of the other side of it based on the crop, but it just isn't there. Interesting shot, good luck!

Other than feeling the generation gap and that kid scaring the Hell out of me, Martin. . .

I am a fan of dramatic lighting. Therefore, all of that white on white was difficult for me. Her “makeup” looks like the flaky post or tombstone(?) on the right. Since she’s into goth, I thought a little dark lighting on one side would have been great.

Got any others?

I like the edit posted by Ms. Lumico, but to give my take on the original color version:

It seems you cropped the head pretty hard for intimacy/eye contact which is good, but the image is a bit stretched too low as if you HAD to get some bra/cleavage in the shot...didn't quite work IMO.

I'm not fond of the post leaning so much.

The white balance seems a bit blue.

I did a quick edit with some color correction..

I like sk66's crop a lot since it solves the bra symmetry issue I spoke of earlier, but I like my B/W conversion with yellows filtered out more than any of the color versions so here's another take...

Thanks fo rall the input. I agree about the crop. Once it was mentioned it was hard to not to look at it. I kinda like the blue in the photo. But I really think I need to clean up the white make up. It does look distracting. Thanks again

Cheers

I dunno, Martin. Aren’t the bra and the flaky makeup part of the “look”?
