Default another shot at point&shoot portraiture

This was taken on the Canon SX200IS. The bokeh in the background has obviously been added on through photoshop. This is one of the first times I went out with a friend to deliberately shoot portraits. Please comment and critique! Thank you.

This is a really pretty photograph. Typically, I like compositions where the "empty space" is in the same direction as the model's glance. However, for some reason, I like where you have it placed. My only recommendation is to have the model look slightly more toward you. I find the photographs were you can still see a large part of the eye even when the model is glancing off-frame more appealing.

I totally agree. My first thought was "wow, I love it!" Only then did I notice she wasn't looking towards the empty space, but I don't care. It doesn't bother me. I think it works really well! I love the colors, and she is beautiful. The only thing I find distracting is that her shirt is not a consistent color. Fantastic shot!

I composed this way on purpose to maybe create a sense of longing of the unknown, and maybe a bit of the model feeling 'lost'. Yes I see your point now. If my friend had been looking more towards me I feel it would balance out the picture more. But thank you for your comments! I really appreciate your feedback I'm hoping to be getting an slr soon so I can start on some real portraits!

Like I said above, I composed this way on purpose Oh yes I see the inconsistent colour of her shirt now. I'll reprocess it.
