Hi all,
This weekend I was out with a meeting of my wife's womens organization in one of the urban poor areas in Cebu City, Philippines. As always in these occasions, there are plenty of kids around there and more often then not, they are just too happy to cooperate in exchange for seeing their picture. This girl was standing in a jeepney (local transport, some kind of minibus) and I loved her face and expression right away. Coming home, I noticed that parts are over and parts are underlighted. At the time of taking the picture, I didn't notice. What could I have done to prevent this. Apart from moving her to the shade on the other side of the jeepney that is :-) Thanks for your suggestions ubo Flickr: ubo_pakes' Photostream ![]() Make = NIKON CORPORATION Model = NIKON D60 Orientation = 0 X Resolution = 300 Y Resolution = 300 Resolution Unit = inch Software = Picasa 3.0 Date Time = 2010-09-05 21:20:43 YCbCr Positioning = centered Exif IFD Pointer = Offset: 210 [Camera] Exposure Time = 1/200" F Number = F5.6 Exposure Program = Aperture priority ISO Speed Ratings = 200 Exif Version = Version 2.21 Date Time Original = 2010-09-05 14:59:25 Date Time Digitized = 2010-09-05 14:59:25 Components Configuration = YCbcr Exposure Bias Value = ±0EV Max Aperture Value = F5.66 Metering Mode = Pattern Light Source = unknown Flash = Flash fired, auto mode, return light detected Focal Length = 48mm User Comment = Subsec Time = 0.40" Subsec Time Original = 0.40" Subsec Time Digitized = 0.40" Flashpix Version = Version 1.0 Color Space = Uncalibrated Exif Image Width = 2592 Exif Image Height = 3872 Interoperability IFD Pointer = Offset: 858 Sensing Method = One-chip color area sensor File Source = DSC Scene Type = A directly photographed image CFA Pattern = Custom Rendered = Normal process Exposure Mode = Auto exposure White Balance = Auto white balance Digital Zoom Ratio = 1x Focal Length In 35mm Film = 72mm Scene Capture Type = Normal Gain Control = None Contrast = Normal Saturation = Normal Sharpness = Normal Subject Distance Range = unknown Image Unique ID = 64b4ca970a99e7c2e46fee3e0c120d94 |

In the end, it's a basic case of not having even light on the subjects face (as said by edbayani). You need to get her face in even lighting considitions, either fully in the light or fully in the open shade. The contrast between the highlights and shadows is just too extreme.
