Default Mom and Baby

I had my first family photo shoot on Friday... overall I was happy with how the photos came out... I still have a long way to go particularly for the indoor shots.

For the following shot what could I have done differently to get that crisp, deep shot? How is the composition?

Any other feedback on how it could have been improved?

Thanks so much!

This is a nice candid capture of mom and baby sharing a precious moment. Overall it looks very nice. On my monitor the white balance looks a bit off towards the yellow side. But lets see what others say as it could just be me...

Thank you! It was fun to shoot them.

I agree it's a shade on the yellow side... I'll play with it in PP.

Would a different focal length have given it that "POP" ?

Yeah it looks a little yellow...you have good DOF IMO, try boosting the contrast a little; the lighting is a little flat.

Thanks Carrie... I am pleased with the DOF. It was early morning... 8:30/9ish, how could I have improved the lighting? A fill flash? I currently only have my on camera flash.
