I think it's a great shot.
the only thing I can think of is you should have placed him on the left side of the photo instead of the right. that way, the space would have been in the direction his looking. |

Oh, and change the perspective a bit.. everyone, and I mean everyone, can take a 'straight on" from eye-level shot. Even if you just tilt the camera a bit left or right, it'll make it a bit more dynamic (in my humble opinion).
Keep posting, let's see what you come up with next!
