Default Purely by Accident - but I love it.

This picture was taken under some heavy tree cover. I had to slow down the shutter speed because the flash caused the background to black out. My tripod was broken and not as steady as usual and, because of my uncomfortable position, I wasn't steady either. I uploaded the picture to my computer to take a good look at it and I thought it had potential inspite of all the camera shake. I used photoshop to add the watercolor filter and fell in love with it. My friend, and 'go to' girl for critiquing my shots, absolutely hates it. She thinks it is way to blurry and obviously a mistake - I was wondering what your impressions would be? Should I keep it or kick it?

Cannon EOS Digital Rebel XTi
Shutter Speed - 0.8sec
Aperture - f/6.3
ISO - 100

Yeah, sorry, it's a kick. There is just too much blur and not in a good way...it hurts my eyes.

P.S. try not to centre her next time...it would be a more compelling composition

Yea, agree the blur is not making it. Hard to take an initially bad shot and enhance it so much on PS that it comes out good.

Thanks for your critique ~ I guess my friend was right I still find myself drawn to it, I'm not sure why, perhaps it's my own bias LOL. It's important to me to know how it makes others feel ~ it's how I grow. Thanks again.

I'm sorry to say I found it hard to look at as well although the scene itself has some potential. On the other hand I have taken photos that I am the only one who likes them - while its nice to have other peoples opinion, in the end who are you trying to please?

I think the concept, the colors, the location are good and I can see what you were wanting to do. I think a steady tripod, a little work on recomposing the scene, and you'll have a really interesting shot.

As taken and edited, it makes my eyes bounce all over looking for something to anchor on and I'd have to agree with the others that it doesn't work as something I'd spend time looking at.
