Default Lighting critique needed

I finally managed to get a portrait of my husband's cousin that we both love. He, like me, always managed to make a horrible face just in time for the picture, or pose in such a way that our flaws are magnified. This is the first time in 5 years that we've both been happy with a picture I took of him.

I'd especially appreciate lighting critique, because I'm new to studio lighting and learning as I go. Any other critique is also welcome, as I'm sure I didn't do everything perfectly. I do know that there's a hint of an object behind his shoulder on the right, but I'm honestly not good enough at Photoshop yet to edit it out. (I remove objects like that using the Retouch tool in Picasa, which doesn't work if the object to be removed is touching the edge of something else.) Thanks for the critique!

EXIF
Shutter speed: 1/125
Aperture: F/10.0
ISO: 100

(Also, is there a trick to posting a picture from Flickr? The tutorial here seems to be out of date since Flickr has changed how you can share images.)

The new Flickr is supposed to be easier...ha! To share your photo, go to that photo in your stream, then click on Share This at the top of the photo, click Grab the HTML code, then click medium (if you have to...mine are always on medium), then copy and paste the code from there into the DPS message.

As for the photo...it is a little flat. Try bumping the contrast a bit, and maybe sharpen
