Default What's wrong with this shot?-Little boy playing

I took this shot of my son playing the other day, and there's something about it that I don't think is right but I can't figure out what lol.

Is it because the background is out of focus? Or because his feet are blurred (he was running at the time)? Should I have made the aperture smaller so his feet would have also been in focus?

I know I should have taken his soother out, but I wasn't thinking at the time lol. Rookie mistake.

Thanks for your input

*I did crop the picture and fixed the colouring.

The blur might have come from your shutter speed or camera shake. I personally think its adorable that his soother is still in his mouth - after all, its him.

The whole pic is pretty soft with the exception of the ball. I suspect the focus fell on the ball

Your shutter speed 1/50 was way to slow to catch a running toddler and have him be in focus 100%. What you have in the making is a panning shot. This is something that you can actually practice. You just keep following the movement when the shutter is snapped.
