I am new to photography but would really love to learn. I try my best at things I think are good, but I will appreciate any comments anyone has to say to help me learn what areas I need to work on.

Hi,
It's beautiful. She needs a little light on her though. Now, I have D5000 like you, and the manual is pretty comprehensive with regards to the use of the flash. I'm still trying to get my head around using flash outdoors, and others will be able to direct you more technically than me. I'll just add that if you want outstanding pictures of you little ones and your family etc then invest in a 50mm lens for you D5000 and you'll be amazed at the results you can get in low light. Mine cost me £109 brand new. A little more for an autofocus one for your camera. There's a couple of 50mm kids snaps on my Flickr, Flickr: Dave Turley's Photostream ![]() Just a 2 minute adjustment in Photoshop dodge and sharpen. she does need a little light on her since the background is a little bright than her,, basically what I did was to sharpen her a bit and some dodge and burn to brighten the head and facial areas. Lastly..did some gaussblur to smoothen the skin.
Now I'am no pro, just learning too, so any comments or dislikes on my PP just shoot. copy bg layer.. soft light - hi pass high radius copy bg layer -- soft light hi pass low radius. merge layers.. add new layer.. brightens the head and face.. sample.jpg |

Thank you both for the edits. I myself knew it was a bit dark, but I am glad you have given me advise. I will be putting up some more work soon. I just love learning and appreciate any advise or critques anyone has to give.
Thank you again.
