Default the sad boy - need your thoughts

Hi all,
I really need your thoughts about this photo.
I like it, but it's my nephew so I'm a little bribed.
there is something about this photo.. I just don't know what

I like the composition and the contrast - good desaturation too and the look on his face is certainly a little pensive, if not downright sad.

I have a similar expression on my son's face (Sad Harry in the General Discussion > Before & After thread) and find it equally encapsulating.

I agree 100% with Tom's assessment. The only thing that I might have tried is turning the camera to the vertical and catching a shot that way also to have his entire body in. I usually will shoot a subject both ways.

I really like it! its very interesting shot and it makes you thinking is he sad or whats going on in his little head at that time. i like the colors too. great photo!
