Sun Painted Hand

Early morning Sun shinning through the window above the headboard of our bed reflected off the bevel of the mirror on our dresser back onto the mirror in the headboard. My wife raised her hand and this is what we seen; so I quickly got may camera and this is what I captured.

What settings could I have made to improve this photo. The colors where changing by the second. Would changing distance to subject have help. Any comments good or bad.
