Default Finally asleep...

Here is what I would like to be critiqued on:

1) White balance. Is it still too blue/green? I tried to warm it up a bit but I think it's still too cold.

2) I know the time stamp sucks. I didn't realize it was on until it was too late. Is there a way to get it off of there after the fact without having to crop it out or retouch it out?

3) I like taking candid shots the most. However, I am finding that I end up with snapshots rather than actual photos. I am trying to work on this. Can you recommend any links which talks about how to take candid shots?

Thanks,
Sam

1) To me, it looks OK.

2) Not that I know of. I used resynthesizer, clone tool, and healing tool in GIMP [free!]. I posted it here: 4891781214_914e94d3e6_b.jpg

3) I'm in the same boat as you.

what a lovely composition.....it just doesn't come any better than that.....honestly, i find it far more than just a snapshot....

i didn't think it was too blue.....but, i did feel that it's underexposed.....and i took the liberty of lightening it up and removing the time stamp....

4891781214_914e94d3e6_b

to bring up the exposure, i did little more than to open up a levels adjustment and move both the mid point abnd the white slider to the left a bit.....it took most of that cast off the whites and brought up the skintones enough so that they matched the new, brighter enviroment.....

the stamp was a snap.....a little bit of cloning and then a layer with a skin colored patch over the area to even out the skin's tone on dad's arm.....

again, i have to tell you that this is a lovely shot.....if you had overexposed for the scene a smidgen, you would have nailed it.....

great job

Oh my goodness! Sooo much better! I never even realized it was underexposed. Thank you so much for editing for me. I really appreciate your feedback.

Yep, it was definitely underexposed. I also agree that this is much more than a snapshot. It's a beautiful lifestyle portrait. I think it would also make a gorgeous black and white image!

I agree with the others.... underexposed, which as you can see can easily be fixed... a stunning portrait...

What a gorgeous photo! You should be really proud of this capture. This is the type of photograph that will have you looking back at it time and time again over the years. Just beautiful!

Black and White sounds like a great idea to me. Can you post a version of it with black and white?
