Default Portrait of a 3 Year Old

Hi everybody,

Here is another picture I have taken of my beautiful daughter.I am happy with it, however I feel like there are still things I may have done wrong or could do differently. Does it look kind of muddy to you? What about my composition, did I frame this nicely, or what could/should I ave done. Anything else???

Thanks for your help

Becky

She's a cute little girl. It does look a little dark and muddy. I think a little brightening is all it needs. The only thing that I might have done differently is pulled back a bit so as not to have any bits of her hair chopped at the top which would have also eliminated the chop at the elbow.

Can you just give me a bit of advice on brightening it up? Do I just pull the curves up a bit or is there something that works better?

Yes, just a curves adjustment. You can get away with just bringing up the mid-tones. Grab the middle of just drag it straight up. You'll see it brighten up nicely.

yes a cute girl...
i do think that maybe its a little too tight of a composition as her hair and all do go out of the frame....
her eyes are great and the focus is perfect on them.

it does seem a bit darker than needs to be, but also might be a little in your WB, but I agree.. play with the curves and you might get what you want.

Beautiful focus and lights in her eyes. Maybe a little brighter overall would help bring out some more life in the shot?

I'm a real cropper who likes to fill the frame, so I would probably have cropped even more and thus the fact that part of the elbow or hair is missing doesn't bother me at all. Maybe the brightness could be a bit better, but overall I think it's just a really, really nice picture of your daughter.

I agree with the previous post that it is okay to have part of a limb or the head cropped; I don't think that detracts from a photo. I like the composition - especially the eyes as they are well focused.

Great feedback, thank you everybody! I love this photo myself, maybe it is because it is of my daughter, but I liked the framing personally, but it is still good to hear others' opinions on it.
