Default too warm?

I would love to have some CC on this image of my son! I often use my kids as my practice models... as im sure most of us do when starting out! This is taken window light only, with a white paper backdrop. I think his skin looks a bit warm in some spots, what do you guys think? Also any other C&C that would help me improve next time?

I know I missed the catchlights somehow... I think my angle to the sun was wrong, could be thought that it was a bit cloudy today. Thanks in advance for any comments!

Camera Nikon D80
Exposure 0.002 sec (1/640)
Aperture f/2.0

I think the reason for the no catch light is b/c he was looking in the wrong direction. And cloudy is always good, even my 7 year old says, man, its a good day for pics when its cloudy out... I think you are a little warm, not too bad tho...

Thanks for your feed back... LOL about your 7 year old! My 5 year old says the same thing when I take him out for a photo shoot.. he likes it because the sun doesn't get in his eyes and he hears me say that God gave us a giant defuser in the sky today. LOL! I guess I just didn't realize that it was the same for window light?

Yeah, it's clear from the shadows that his brow blocked the light from lighting his eyes well. This is where you'd need to lower the light, or have another light/reflector to bottom/right of camera for a bit of fill light.

I don't think it's too warm. A bit too "posey" for me, but still cute.

My only concern with the pose is that the subject's right hand appears to abruptly and almost awkwardly disappear. Maybe it only looks that way because I've been looking at the image for a few minutes, but hey.

Other than that and the issue of lighting, I personally think this is a solid photo!

God bless!

Thanks for your comments! Since I can't really lower the sun by myself I guess next time Ill pull out a reflector... hee hee! Although im pretty sure if I changed the angle of my set up I would not have that problem. It is "posey" but that is just SO his personality.. LOL!
