What a little sweetie.

The photo has a lot of noise, and it appears that the focus fell on the dad's hand. The white balance is off as well. Not sure about the composition - dad's furry chest is a bit distracting.

Thanks Susan,
I was going after something a bit different while editing this photo.
tried to add a little roughness.. which added a lot of noise
this is the original photo:

I prefer the original, but yeah, the focus fell on dad's index finger. Check out the DOF Calculator - it's tricky getting focus right when shooting wide open. As for white balance, there's way too much magenta - the skin tones are way off.

Very sweet moment, though, and I like the light in baby's eyes.

I can see what you mean regarding the magenta, I've toned it down and the ear lost it's redness...
regarding the DoF, funny thing... it turns out I had about 2 inches in focus.
guess that's what you get when taking pictures wide open and extremely close
you get the light and lose the baby...
the 50mm f/1.8 is a tough lens to control wide open.

With practice, you'll find shooting wide open gets easier. I studied the DOF calculator forever before it finally clicked (no pun intended). I'm now addicted to shooting wide open, I'm a bit of a bokeh whore, LOL!

I actually like the treatment that you did but I do agree the color is wonky.
