Default Too Much Darkness?

I took this photo of my wife near a local beach. I like how this came out but am interested in other people's opinions on it.

Thank you!

I like the clouds and the silhouette by itself but they just don't work good together.
may be it's the dark clouds and the dark woman silhouette plus the dark trees.. can't put my finger on it.

I think it would be better if she was a complete silohuette. It would also be more dramatic if she wasn't smiling. And crop out the tree it doesn't really do anything for the image imo.

I LOVE silhouette photos! I'm in agreement with AdrenoJunkie's crop - love how you left a little room for her "to look into". Just wish her hands hadn't been chopped off. If this had been shot in portrait orientation rather than landscape to include more of her and no tree to begin with, it'd be just about perfect.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I do like the crop AdrenoJunkie did and agree that it would be better if she was completely blacked out.

Thanks again!

It seems I'm alone in this, but I actually like the tree, and would like seeing it in the picture with her in silhouette.

I like the tighter crop with space to the right. And also agree about wishing she weren't smiling.
There is some artifact at her hip and lower arm that is strange - not sure if it is a function of the lens or PP.
Would love someone to explain both what it is and how to avoid it.

Hmm. I'm not sure what the one on the hip is, but what you see on the wrist could be a dog leash. She had her hand through the loop of the leash when I took the photo.
