great picture, the only thing bothering me is the lack of sharpness... which lens did you use?
great job with the flash, I didn't notice it till I read your comments.

I used my Quantaray AF LD 70-300mm 1:4-5.6 Tele-marco lens. It was all the way zoomed out as I was about as close to my subject as you can get with it. I have been working on the focus thing, I seem to be struggling with it...some days are better than others. Is there anything you could suggest on how to make them sharper? I haven't gone through any classes and am kinda learning this by trial and error. Thanks!

best option I can give you is aim for the eyes.
btw, if you're using a flash - keep in mind that you need to adjust the shutter speed to match the flash.
that changes from flash to flash so check your manual.

Okay... I have been trying for more clarity in the eyes, so I have been focusing my camera more on the eyes. I don't remember what I did here. It was the 4th of July and she was flitting to and fro as every-time a loud firecracker went off she went and hid. Thanks for the tips. I will try to work on getting my subject more in focus... especially the eyes!
