Default Pool Baby

I took this photo of my daughter playing in the pool recently.
The purple object in the bottom of the picture is a ball that she was throwing back and forth and accidentally threw out of the pool. I picked it up and decided to take a picture of her asking for it back.
I think the white spot on the ball is a little distracting, as well as the unfortunate crop of the person in the background.

It's a very cute shot, but that purple ball just distracts completely from the baby. It would greatly benefit the photo if you cropped out the purple ball.

Another thing: You shouldn't have cut off a third of the lady's face, especially through her eye.

I love the expression on the lady's face. It's just the purest look of utter joy. Great job. :3

Yes I wish I had not cut off her face! She was just getting into the pool as I was taking the shot, I had not intended for her to be in it but once she sat down I should have waited to make sure that I had her more in the picture! Now that she is in there I can't think of a good way to crop her out without taking out too much of the picture. I will have to pay better attention next time to the people in the background.

Thanks for the suggestion of cropping out the ball, I wasn't sure if it was distracting or not. I thought that the bright spot on it was too much!

I was wanting general critique, I worked on the colors on this photo a bit so I was hopeing that they still look true to life!

Thank you!

I would crop it to zoom in on the little girl, let her take all of the photo...

I disagree, for me the photo is alright the way it is, the out of focus ball is part of the composition because it is the thing that calls the child attention. You could have cropped in close that's a good formula but you wouldn't be telling the hole story. I loved the way my eye goes from the ball to the baby and to the lady the reacts to the babe's action.

A photo tells a story and this is one of the baby wanting the ball. It belongs in the photo. You could have cropped close enough than the ladies hands would be the only thing showing in the background. She is reacting but not integral to the photo.
