Can you point me to the Mapplethorpe image you were thinking of when you shot this one. I have looked and can't seem to find it. The only one that even comes close is his portrait of Gregory Hines.

I would say it was this one. The Robert Mapplethorpe Foundation - Self Portraits

Image 9 in the slideshow.

To the OP,I like your take on it. The lighting and the sharpness are really nice. I really like the flowing composition! The green tint is kind of throwing it off for me a little. It's not bad, but it just doesn't seem quite right.

No worries. It says in the guidelines that you need to ask a specific question. Could be anything, could be you want help with your processing or maybe a question about lighting or camera settings.

Default curious

I have never used this technique you have used here...but it looks like you executed it quite well.

I have thoughts about this picture. Her makeup is kind of strong and her hair is perfect, I would think she was going to be on the cover of Vogue...but the ghostly image beside her makes me wonder is this supposed to be a spooky picture? (I don't see movement in this picture)... I guess the glamour of it and the spookiness of this picture kind of clash for me. I just really wonder what this picture is trying to convey or what the story is behind it? It definately makes me curious...
