Default spontaneous photo of my lovely daughter

Hi,

I took this photo spontaneously of my daughter while she was having for morning fruit.
The way she is looking at me while eating is captivating.. for me at least.

What do you think of this photo in general and in terms of composition?
Do you think the focus on her hands rather than her eyes is a let down?

I have done color processing.

Shot in aperture priority mode:
Nikon D90
f/4.2
1/100 sec
82 mm (dx format)
ISO 800

Comments appreciated

I agree! The expression is humorous and playful and serious and kudos to you for being able to capture it.

In terms of composition, I would have preferred that this better follow the rule of thirds with her head to the left of the frame just a bit more, because there's something about a center subject that just feels off in an unprofessional portrait. And yes, I would have loved to see her eyes in focus—it's not tack sharp and it's not completely out of focus as in a background for a shallow depth of field shot. I mean, I love that the hands are tack sharp! But since her expression is the focus, it would have been nice to have her face (which gives the expression) to be in focus.

Regardless, it is a great spontaneous capture and I hope this provides fond memories years down the road.

I agree with the rule of thirds - the thing is that I was at close distance with no room to move. I was either to snap or leave it.

Thanks for your comments. I am sure this will provide fond memories as you have said

cheers
