I took some outdoor portraits of this girl yesterday using natural light, and this is the best one I think. I have edited it in photoshop, where I have enchanched the eyes, added a little fill light, lensflare left and a texture. What do you think of it, I am a little nervous about showing it to the parents
Is it overdone, and unnatural, or does it look proffessional enough?Thank you EXIF data: canon 5d mk ll, 50mm f3.2, 1/500 seconds, iso 200. Last edited by Jonatan; 07-14-2010 at 09:48 AM. |

Very nice indeed! I love it! As for that stray piece of hair, I would probably remove it, however, some parents wouldn't care or notice with such a beautiful portrait anyway, yet there are some parents that are super picky.

I love the composition and color. Agree with most that the eyes are just on the edge of going too far. I personally would pull back just a bit on them.

I have to disagree, unfortunately—the eyes are too overdone to the point of looking unnatural. I don't know how they looked originally, but maybe just a bit of dodging would have been fine, as right now they are too strong and vivid. I would also remove the stray hair; without it and pulling back on the eyes this portrait should definitely please the parents.

Thank you all for the feedback I really appreciate it. I do agree that the eyes are too strong. She really has beautiful eyes and retouching them can quickly make them look overdone. I have tried a different version here, what do you think of this as oppose to the first one? I think the skin tone is better and smoother, and I like that the portrait has a little less contrast too.

I much prefer the eyes in the second one. In the first they really jumped out at me, but in the second they just look pleasingly striking.
