it does not look sharp. The hair in the face & the resulting shadows are not my favorite but mostly it is too soft

Something seems off with the lighting to me. It looks like it was lit by a reading lamp.

Hi - beginner too but for what it is worth - did you focus on her lovely red lips? I would like to see the focus on her eye.

The only other thing I could potentially help with is from a girly point of view: The lips are a lovely colour contrast with her hair. The smokey eyes are nice and I would like to see the eye lashes more defined. The small piece of hair that has fallen over this side of her nose is casting a shadow under her eye giving a dark area.

It is a strong look and I would like to see it lighter and sharper in her skin.

I like the angle of her pose. Possibly the hair on her right shoulder if pushed back would have continued the line showing the strong lines and nice light skin and contrasting again with her long hair on the far side?

Hope this is along the lines of what you were looking for.

White balance looks off (what was your WB set to and what did you use as a light source on the front of her face?)

its very soft.. probably motion blur from handshake (what was your shutterspeed?)

other than that, nice model and this could make for a great shot with some refinements in technique.

Agreed with PP's but I'd also like to add there is no light in the eye that's visible. That usually kills it for me; if someone is nicely lit but they eye/eyes don't show it, it's a no-go for me.
