I thought I'd give shooting in Raw ago so here is my first ever raw photo. Could you tell hoe it is over all. its SOOC and only used the popup flash for lighting.

Raw is very powerful in terms of saving all the info your camera captures. For me, shooting in raw is like shooting in film, you need to pass through the dark room, which means, sharpening, color balance, etc. I think the portrait only needs a little bit of sharpening specially in his face as it's for my taste to soft.

What a cutie! Overall though, my first impression is that the background is very busy and distracting, and I avoid popup flash like the plague as it gives very harsh, flat lighting.

Watch your backgrounds and try using natural window light (possibly with the aid of a reflector) for much more flattering light.

Good for you for getting down to his level!
