Default Sleeping Angel

I would love to have some feedback on this.

This was taken on my living room floor with no additional lighting except for the sunlight coming thru the window.

My local Walgreens used this in thier Mothers Day add for the photo center

For me, the blown parts are too much and I personally am not a fan of soft focus processing. It feels as if the skin tone of the baby is too magenta. I think if he was positioned in such a way that some of the light could skim his front, it would have made a better photo.

I agree with Iputman. The picture is not that great. The baby is beautiful, but the soft focus isn't flattering and the picture has more of a blurred look than a nice effect. I think the lighting also is aimed in a not so great way. His face is redder, while his ear is pretty much disappearing in the sunlight...

I would go for a sleeping baby laying on it's back, or have a light source that is on the baby's face without so much blanket covering it. You want the baby to look snuggled in, but not buried.

this was not a posed picture. This was purely candid. He was sound asleep on a blanket in the living room the light is from the window. Other than the soft focus there was no editing.

How would you have fixed the redness?

I would get more than one opinion on this, but you may have tweaked the WB, gone with a B&W photo, or used a reflector. If you didn't want to re-pose, a reflector might have been a good way to go. It would have caused more light on the face and eliminated the red factor, even though really tiny babies usually are a little on the redder side.

As and amateur that knows little about method and composition correctness I can not give a educated opinion. But as a person who loves photography as art and what you feel rather than technical aspects, I love it. It is soft and as gentle as that baby is. It would appeal to the majority of people who see it, outside of technical experts. It has mom appeal and that sells.Yeah the red ear could have been cloned out but other than that it is a nice photo.
