I like the composition here, and the black & white conversion works well. The image looks slightly under exposed - you've lost some detail in the darker areas. The images looks fractionally soft. The most important thing when photographing people (and animals) is that their eyes are sharp. I would have used fill flash for this shot. You could also have upped your iso a little (no more than 400). |

nicely composed, the natural smile here also makes it for me... however yes the image is a little underexposed, and as with portraiture in general, its lacking sharpness, as kate mentioned earlier. That aside, I love the composition! keep going!

It's a good shot - a slight bump in exposure would have made it great. Like the narrow depth of field.
