I just love how his eye is so clear!!!!! I would be so tempted to lighten up his eye again though, dodge and burn are your friends.... but not too heavy or it looks fake.. I would just love to see a little texture and brightness to the iris!

If you could get your subject to hold that pose I would try to get a vertical shot of this. Place subject off to one side or the other. Because your son is doing something very interesting I would frame just him. Exposure is good, Contrast is a very subjective judgment, Make a copy of the image and try different contrast settings. Then choose which one you like.
Since you are shooting a 5D mark II, start shooting RAW and not jpg. You have a greater exposure latitude shooting RAW and have much more creative control. And re-editing jpg images will lower image quality. Thanks Joe
