I had my first portrait shoot last weekend. The model is someone I know quite well who was auditioning for a modelling show and wanted to have some fun in front of the camera (giving me the opportunity to practice my portraiture). After reviewing the photos, I was happy enough with them considering the model turned out to be really difficult to work with (talking constantly, overposing), I still didn't feel they were anything special. Are these just 'holiday snaps' that anyone could take? How do I get the spark of interest and life into them?!

Hi Viridiana.
Just a simple advice for you my friend - always focus on the eyes of your subject. The first picture I found to be out of focused, the second one is okey except for the twig shadow in front of her which is quite distracting. You may want to shoot the model on good nature background where it can help enhance the composition. Check my link and see if you like how I did with my model portrait pictures. Enjoy shooting my friend and hope to see more of your shots soon.
