Well, I'll put this out there for opinions. I've been reading, shooting, and trying to improve on my portraiture. Tonight, I was shooting with my Son who kept making big happy smiles at his Mum who was out of frame. Instead of fighting it, I went with it, and here are the results:

I am an aspiring portrait photog, so this is purely an "unprofessional" opinion. First, your son is absolutely beautiful. 2) I'm a sucker for non-traditional composition and being that he has ample room to look into, it works for this shot. 3) Now this is really unprofessional because I'm still working on my lighting technique, but it looks as though it may be a tad overexposed on the side of his face closest to the background...others may see it differently, so take this with a grain of salt, please. Overall, I think it's a great photo. Keep up the good work and keep sharing your results!
