Default dramatic sky or just over saturated

2010 06 05_1179-2web

i did this wedding this weekend,
i want the sky to be nice and dramatic, but i'm confused.

if i keep the sky as shot, i find it a bit boing.. but with an overlay/multiply layer it comes out nicely.. i like it.. but a part of me says its a bit over dome.

what do you think of the sky????

exif is irrelevant
however..
Nikon D80
Exposure: 0.005 sec (1/200)
Aperture: f/3.5
Focal Length: 24 mm
ISO Speed: 160

if you want to edit it.. please only post on dps, and use hosting that is set to private

thanks

Personally, I totally loose the wedding couple that I feel should be the focus of the image. I can't see them on my screen as I type, and I can't tell you whether the groom is in a tux or suit. Unless they want a sky scape, I would crop in on them if the sky is boring and focus on the young couple you probably should be,

That said, your edits on the sky do make it very interesting and I do not think it is "over done" if the intent of the photo is the sky.

thanks,
the intent is to show drama in the sky.. i just am not sure about how dramatic to take it.
i have several others as you described.. very close up on them, so this one i dont want to crop.
thanks for the suggestion though.

I think the sky looks great! There is something that does bug me about this image, and it took me a long time to figure it out, but it's the falloff from the strobe. It reaches too far in to the frame. It gives me a feeling of something that is supposed to be there, but it is not.
I did download it and had a play just to make sure that it what it was, and just did a duplicate layer, set it to overlay, then added a layer mask, and painted the original exposure of the couple back in. It got rid of the excess falloff and actually deepened the sky color up nicely. I didn't save it, because I know you are good, and know your stuff. I just wanted to make sure that is what it was that was bugging me.

At this size the sky looks fine. I'm not sure how this picture would look at a larger size. The couple does seem to be too small relative to the sky and seem a little overexposed but I can't really tell at such a small picture size.

sweet,
thanks
i did "help" the falloff appear a bit brghter because i felt it needed a little foreground on the right of the image... because they are basically at the edge of a cliff, maybe i'll experiment with removing it again.
i appreciate the input.
thanks
