Default Running on the beach

I really like this shot, the only thing that bothers me is the boy in blue looks tilted, and I almost feel like it's throwing off the photo. Does it bother anybody else? Should I photoshop him straight? Also what are any general opinions of the shot, does it work as a "portrait" shot for a client? Thanks in advanced!!

Does not work as a portrait, can't see the faces. the boy in blue does not bother me. what bothers me is your watermark cutting into the little boys legs. Myabe place the water mark down the right or left side of the frame.

I would try a tighter crop around the boys. The enviroment is not that interesting .

I didn't mean as a portrait portrait, I just didn't think it fit in landscape either. The watermark is supposed to cut of his feet, that was just for posting purposes. If I put this on my website I will adjust it, I just wanted something that wasn't that easy to photoshop out, because a lot of watermarks are very easy to clone out and be done with. At least this is legs, it will take a little bit of work.

I was worried the boy in blue looked like he was falling or something, I was going to straighten him, but I couldn't decide if it was just me that was bothered it or not, thanks for responding!

I have to disagree about the environment, I like it. It's a beautiful beach, with cute little boys running on it. If it was purely a landscape shot, I might agree with you, but since it's not I think it works. Thanks for the advice!

I like it the boy in blue doesn't bother me at all....but I don't like the expanse of just sand off to the left....can it be recropped with taking some of that out?

Everyone has different tastes on what constitutes a 'portrait'... people post things that I don't personally like but others 'love'....so it's all in the eye of the beholder

At least your watermark isn't smack dab in the middle of pic.

I guess I've been spoiled by having the opportunity to visit a few nice exotic beaches and living on the west coast.

technical aspects your pic is good. Horizon is straight and not running across the middle of frame. Subjects are near the rules of third. Exposure looks good so does the color.

But what really counts is that you and the client likes the pic. But I still believe that showing the faces would of made this pic much stronger.

Reena: When i set it to print the left did get cropped a little. I just don't like to crop the full pictures, you never know when you will need it.

klam: I really dislike it when the watermark is right in the middle and you can't really critique the picture because you can't see it. I know photoshop like the back of my hand, so i know the capabilities it has. I wanted to make it harder to photoshop. I know it's super easy to clone out watermarks of some pictures. I agree faces would've made it better, it was a quick shot while we were running towards the rocks to take some other pics. I am sure the beaches on LI are in no way close to the other ones, lol this is a nice beach here!!

I love it! The only thing I would do is crop a bit off the left side. The tilted boy doesn't bother me at all.

The tilt just shows how kids are. As a parent I love shots like these (candid). The kids can just be themselves! I think the phot is too bright however. A graduated filter would do wonders in my eyes, or maybe a bit of contrast. Has a very natural feel though. Thanks for sharing
