Smile Little guy in a johny jump-up

Here is a picture of my little guy in a johny jump-up. I just started experimenting with portraits and so far he has been my only model. This is my first post in the portrait critique section.

I am looking for critiques on anything (e.g. composition, lighting, color, etc). Of course I am going to think it is great; as it is my kid. So, looking for some objective reviews. Should I remove the molding on the wall behind him?

The EXIF doesn't say it, but I used an external flash in the hot-shoe pointed up to reflect off of the ceiling. And I used gimp to air brush his face a little.

Thanks!

Come on people, 48 views and no posts!!

Here's my opinion, for what little it's worth. Generally you want leading lines in your pictures, but in this case I'd remove the molding. Instead of leading to your subject it leads my eyes to the right where there is nothing.

Otherwise it's a really good composition, lighting, good colors.

I got a hundreds of these types of pictures myself and I love em all. I guess it's a parents thing.

I myself will not touch up my kids face because it brings back memories the how and why she got that scar, bruise, that bad rash for example.

I wouldn't remove the molding, it also serves as a reminder of where this was taken. Plus it's not a big distraction.
