I love fashion and beauty, so I've decided I want to get serious about fashion photography. This is my first official photo shot (official as we dedicated specific time and resources for this set of pics to happen). Please feel welcome to tear down the composition, technicalities, and post processing on the pics. I really want to improve and I don't mind the heat as long as is elaborated. Avoid comments such as: Awesome! Nice! Good job! I appreciate that, but they don't help me much.

You have a great eye for composition but the focus is way too soft on the first picture (I am guessing this was done in post-processing). I think you did a great job with the last two though, especially the black and white conversion.

I like the composition and the focus as you have it works for me. There is a little to much highlight on her left arm and reflecting off her right palm. It tends to draw your attention away from her face. Her hair seems a little dark and lacks detail. That may just be the size of the photo on the screen but it also helps frame her face. Not sure about the cup kind of a split decession there. Overall I like the shot. And for once its not a kid or kid on beach photo.
A catch light or other reflection in her eyes would have helped a lot but overall a good start. Keep working it will get better and more natural. Keep working with the same model if you can and you will see the changes as you work. |

I am not experienced by any stretch, so I don't think I'm qualified to critique the technical aspects of this photo. That being said I like the shot, but the cup makes me think it could be an ad for a product like coffee, not fashion. I would have probably had her hold the cup lower, so that it wouldn't draw too much attention away from her face.Overall, great shot IMO.

I don't think it's a good idea to have a models mouth covered in a photo unless it's done on purpose, this seems like you wanted to get her drinking, but the drink should have just been touching her lips or a smidge away. Lips are an important part of the face and expression.

mediadiva: Thank you for the feedback, you are right, I think the message of the pictures is a bit confusing.
