Beautiful subject. This is a fun shot. I assume it's here to get some feed back and I didn't see any. I am an amateur, but I think the sun being behind the subject created some undesirable shadows.

Hi ChuzmaRobot,

Considering the harsh lighting conditions (which are also not idea for portrait work), you did a pretty good job with this.

As lkennington said, the position of the subject in relation to the sun created some unpleasant shadows fixable either by repositioning the model, or by using some fill-flash.

Also, the background, though blurred decently, is a bit distracting. Also, whenever I have a subject in the image who is looking in a direction, I like to leave a bit more space in the direction the subject is looking, so in this case, more space to the left would have worked better for me instead of the space to the right.

I like the post-processing you did, though I'm assuming some may not like the blue/green tint. To me, it feels a bit cross-processed, which I like and works well here.

In the end, it's exposed relatively well, I really like the colors, don't like the shadows, feel it's a bit "snap-shot"ish and could use a little more space to the left where she's looking, good looking subject. Still, good effort considering. Thanks

Thanks for the critique guys. This is the first picture I posted and I wanted to see how someone else felt about it. Good things to think about for the next time I am taking pictures.

Thank you!

Just a quick thought to keep in mind, always look at what's behind your subject. If something looks a bit distracting, a simple step or two to the side can sometimes remove it. I would also try maybe brightening up the image just a tad. It's fairly obvious that it's bright and sunny, but the image doesn't quite reflect the intensity of light. Some fill-light from the flash may also help balance out the shadows a little. Nice photo none-the-less. I like the blue-green processing too. I use it when I can get away with it.

Thanks! I can see how the background would be so much better if it wasn't for that tent. Since I wanted to get the skin tone the way it is I didn't try to use the flash. Also, since I am not that experience with the flash, I didn't try. Something else to think about next time I take pictures in similar conditions.

Here is another picture I the same day with a busy background.
