Default Male Model Shoot.

Hi DPS. Heres a shot I did today it was outside so natural light was the factor, luckily it was overcast =) God`s Softbox !! Anyway Im still learning editing and what needs to be done to each individual photo and my biggest problem is skin tones! Ive been researching color correction, dodging and burning etc. But I guess its just practice practice practice.

Anyways what do you think of this photo?
Any suggestions?
Do you think this skin is too orange?
Also do you think it needs to pop a little more, maybe a little contrast?

Thanks =)

my first impression when I looked is his eyes! they just really stand out! the next thing I noticed is that tuft of hair that is sticking out on the top of his head... I personally don't like that. His skin looks fine on my monitor but his hair does have a slight undertone of a red/orange to it. I don't know if it is like that in person or not?

I am not one to critique what could be done better or not to do.....but just my general impressions ... I love his eyes!

Quite honestly, I can find very little wrong with this image. And I can always find something.. haha.

I am a big fan of this style of minimalis, no smiling technique (here), and love this. Great use of Bokeh/DoF and sharpness is dead on. Gotta agree with ReenaG about that tuft of hair.. but little you can do now.

The only thing I don't like about this (and it's wwaaaay minor) is the fact that the background looks as if it MAY be a grey sheet of 80s mottled muslin backdrop because it seems to have some folds/rolls in it as opposed to being perfectly smooth.. but that's me being picky. The image, as I said, is great. I don't find the skin tones off, but I'm on my laptop right now. A boost in contrast may help, but not sure.. have you tried Luminous Landscapes LCE technique? If not, I find it almost always helps with portraits.
Check it here: Contrast Enhancement though it needs to be done in Photoshop, so if you don't have that, ignore!

Great job...

thanks guys!. Fuzzy actually he was sitting on this old door step and the door was a washed out blue color. I darkened the door a little to attract attention to him =). His hair.... well I told him to fix that birds nest but its naturally that wild haha. Thanks for the comments

Nothing to add re the technical aspects of the photo however personally I find the pose a little confronting as it seems he is sneering at the camera with the raised left side of his lip and slightly squinted left eye. If this is the look you are going for then it is well done however the rest of the elements of the photo - soft background/white T-shirt seem to almost be inconsistent with the "attitude" of his face. I would have preferred (for a modelling shot) either a neutral expression or a smile. My 2c only no offence intended
