First of all getting good shots of kids are hard since they are always so curious and always want to do things. This is a great shot but maybe if she was holding the lollipop in front of her and smiling it might be better. The lollipop is kind of distracting in my opinion. Other than that great photo!

The timing of the shot might have helped with the position of her mouth. Lighting and color look good and her expression is good. Giving kids something to distract thier attention works well. Just catching her with the lollipop in a different position might have worked better. It is hard to always know how it would have looked better without trying it.

First of all, nothing is going to take away the adorableness of that kid
With our own two, I give them a prop and take a few with them doing whatever with it, then once they chill a bit, I ask them to hold it there and smile etc. Sometimes showing them the pic on the screen helps to get them involved, sometimes that backfires cause they want to see every one! You can tell them they can see them after you shoot a few or something. I also ask them if there's any photo pose ideas they have...they love that! ~C
