Hey, am pretty new to this as well. But am having a few issues with reflections in the eyes of my subjects. In the first one I can see blue sky and even the colour of the top I was wearing. Second one is not so bad, but still there and quite distracting. As well as it tends to give a blue tint to his eyes - which are actually green.
So any help to get rid of this would be great! We don't have many cloudy/overcast days here, so help would be much appreciated. Thanks! Hello Ari,
I do not think the reflection in the eyes of the cute boy are distracting. I like the reflections. In most portraits you will see reflections in the eyes. It will give you a better look that the model is alive. You could brighten up the eyes a bit in photoshop. gr. Maik

I like the bottom one much better. Maybe some didn't notice the difference in film speed in the two pictures but I did. I also use a Nikon D 90 and have a lot to learn. You are doing great but keep practicing as practice makes perfect. As for white balance, I leave mine set on auto. In fact two different and completely different lens settings etc. Backgrounds are even different causing the lighting in both to be different.
