The direction of the light is wonderful and her expression is good.

The lens was too wide for a tight headshot causing facial distortion. The image is overexposed. The white balance is off. The eyes are centered in the composition making for an uninteresting image. The torso was turned too far away from the camera therefore there is little to no base to support her head so her head looks oversized. There is a large bright odd shaped area above her head which draws our eyes away from her face.

Use a mid-telephoto lens (85 to 150mm) to prevent distortion. Use a gray card for white balance and exposure control. Place the eyes 1/3rd of the way down from the top of the image. The torso should be at a 45° angle to the camera. Watch the backgrounds when posing the subject and use Photoshop for surprises!

Photoshop Elements:

Adjust lighting levels
Adjust skin tone Color
** Try to undo facial distortion with Filter | Distort | Liquify
Clone background
Smooth skin with Filter | Noise | Reduce Noise
