Default beware selective coloring haters lol ;)

okay a lot of people hate selective coloring. but i have a whole set of these pics...some with big dimpled grins and etc that look great in color. but since the father of this child is such a huge fan of the team on the hat. i thought i would do something different for it. does it work ? or is the red too much contrast for the black and white?

I'm not a selective color hater by any means, but in this particular photo, I find the St. Louis logo drawing me away from where my eye wants to focus, and that's the baby's right eye. It seems to be too dominant here.

ok so, if i did the same technique to one that was focused on the hat and not the eyes would work out better? i think i have one like that....i'll post it to see if you like that better?

Maybe add color to the eyes, or is this an ad for the team?

Bump up the contrast a tad on the child, desaturate the logo a bit. and I think you would be golden! I wouldn't add any more color, even to the eyes. In the context you were shooting for, I think it actually works. Grey faces on black and whites bug me more than selective coloring. JMO.

It looks much better to me without the pasty face thing going on. Although I like what you captured in the original with the fingers in the mouth better. I think you desaturated the red just enough not to be so distracting. Again, giving us the background on why you wanted to do this, and you actually had an end goal with the selective coloring, I think it works well. I think dad will be happy with it!
