Default Son at beach portrait......

_DSC0071

I took lots of pics in continuous modeat the beach and I liked this one. Pic hasnt been edited (If I were to, I only use Nikon NX2). What should I do if anything ? Is having him centered in the pic bad here ? Im not concerned too much with the editing cause I know I could undo the shadow on his shirt

Nikon D5000
ISO 100
F/5.6
1/1000 sec

There is excitement in freezing the motion of the frothy water, the saturated colors, and the happy expression on the boy's face. I think the thing that makes this a little more snapshot than portrait is the perspective it was taken from. It looks like mom was just standing at the edge of the water taking shots. It certainly doesn't ruin it though, I found this shot quite enjoyable to look at.

Yeah, I like it too - lots of energy and great colors. I don't think that him being centered is a bad thing at all and I don't see a reason to remove a natural shadow Great job!

I think this picture is great. Honest open expression and great capture of motion in the water.
I would maybe play with the crop a little bit. Try it in portrait instead of landscape, and maybe leave a little more room on his right side and below him, and a little less room on his left and above him.
See how that looks.

Thanks for sharing!
