Default First studio Portrait

Recently tried having a go with a studio lighting set up, and came up with this image. I would appreciate any comments:

EXIF:
ISO 640
F4
1/100
200mm

Studio Portrait

This is very nice work. The lighting is very pleasing and soft. It would have been nice to have enough dof for both eyes to be in focus but it doesn't change the fact you have captured a beautiful model in a beautiful image. Nicely done.

Agreed, but your white balance is off. Her skin is really red.

It looks like perhaps you were short on lighting power in this photo (high ISO, big aperture) and the focus was off so the star of the show is the lines and pores on her left cheek.

Is this SOOC? I don't think it's too red, it seems natural. But, you could probably play around with some post processing to change the tones, and soften it a little. But overall, great subject with a natural smile.

Cheers!

Thanks for the comments guys.

Yes it is straight out of the camera no post processing.

I white balance on auto so will take a look at the redness. With regards the dof I was trying something different. Lots of photos taken at f11 as per most books I have read.

Get yourself a grey card and use CWB. It will help you out with skin tones immensely - I don't know how I lived without mine, LOL! Saves soooooo much time in post processing.

You're off to a great start, keep shootin'.

I agree Susan,
I think a grey card should have been used. I should really collate a list of things required for that type of shoot and ensure that they are in the bag when I go.

I will aim to be better prepared next time.

I will play around with the wite balance to try and get a match of the skin tone the model had, which was a little orange (Fake tan!!)

Thanks again
