Welcome to DPS! Please see the critique posting rules so we can help you out better.

What exactly did you do to the photo? It's obviously overedited. You can tell from the red glow around your model. The photo looks really harsh and sharp as well. Your vertical lines are crooked too..a little bothersome but that could just be me. Maybe you could post the original image?

I am by no means a pro but my first reaction to this shot was that your model is very orange - I would tone that down a bit. Allso not sure if the glare/shine on her face was originally in the photo or is a result of editing but that was a little distracting also.

Like I said I'm not a pro but those were my first reactions.

Default skin tone a little yellow?

I also think you can see too much glow around the model. but another thing is her skin is too yellow and teeth too white perhaps. i took a stab at it and the result is a better skin tone perhaps and softened it to make it not as harsh...just quick example and one opinion . just work on the glowing edges and really white teeth more too....

thanks yea sometimes I try to edit photos and make them too sharp! Its just me not being satisfied so I keep pushing the PP. I disagree with the verticle lines. I think it adds an edge to the picture. I dont want to fit into a standard set of "rules" category and have to make my lines perfectly straight. I think photographers should think outside the box some. But I admit my PP needs work. thanks =)

Thanks! What exactly did you do in terms of editing. It looked like the overall photo is a tad darker.I added to much fill light which caused the halos and brightness of teeth and skin.

actually I just added a #85N6 Kodak wratten filter to give her skin a deeper tan look instead of yellowish. I also added a softening filter to make it not as harsh.

Assuming it is not a neo style portrait then here's my two cents.

Your subject is full of energy and the photo is colorful and dynamic. I'll not straighten the vertical lines here. There is a lack of sharp edges in your capture. Without the EXIF, I cannot tell is it due to post processing or improper focusing and shutter speed.

I think you are trying to enhance the image before fixing the problem areas in your post processing. You should be more concern about correcting the overexposed parts and skin tone of your subject first.

Sample for illustration purpose only.

What is EXIF?? I see the subjects face should be in the center where the X's are. Good point its so easy to make mistakes but I guess thats how you learn

EXIF = Exchangeable image file format. Information about the digital image such as aperture, shutter speed, white balance etc.

Actually I cropped it based on Golden Mean instead of the Rule of Thirds. Look at the lines where they intersect at her left eye.
