First Pair of Shoes - Looking for feedback!

Is this a good portrait shot? Do you like this picture and why or why not? What could I have done better with the composition? Is there something I could do to make this more of a "wow" picture? I do like it, but I feel like I'm still missing the mark somehow.

Well, it's a shoe. There really isn't much more to say than that. The exposure is good but, it's still just a shoe. If you had put the little girl's face in the picture, then that would've made it more interesting...

Here are my thoughts: It does look like it needs to include the rest of the girl, at least her face, to understand her feelings about her first shoes. The little hand on the velcro is cute, and it leaves the viewer wanting to see more of what's happening.

It would work as part of a series...to show the rest of the story. But as stand alone, to me, it doesn't work.
