Question Family and Color

So just a simple question for those of you with calibrated monitors. How are the colors in this photo? My monitor is not calibrated and I'm always a little nervous when I make white balance adjustments. Any other general comments would be fine too.

Cute pic! They look a tad underexposed and cool to me (see how the mom's white sweater actually looks more bluish-grey and the dad's face has a lot of magenta/blue?)

I think if you bump the exposure and warm it up a touch, it'll look pretty good. Do it on a separate layer and erase the bg back in though, or you'll have neon grass, LOL.

One nitpick - would like to have seen some light in their eyes.

Thank you for the feedback! It seems my monitor runs a little bright and warm. I'm hoping to invest in some calibration hardware soon.

Yeah, I've been thinking that about the eyes.

So here is an adjustment I made, I used a warming filter on them only and brightened it up in Canon DPP. I'm using CS2 which means no RAW support for my camera.

You can convert RAW to DNG first with the latest DNG converter.

True. Now if I do that, should I keep both sets? Because that chews up a lot of space very quickly. Or would it be safe to keep the DNGs only?

It depends on your workflow and storage space. You can delete DNG if you only read it once and then save your edited images in PSD format.

Thank you for the feedback, it's greatly appreciated! LoveDSLR, good idea. I should have thought of that myself, but such is life sometimes. Susan thanks again!

Would it also help to make the distance of the child on the right to the edge the same distance as the dad on the left to the edge to make it look a bit more symmetrical...

I'm a newbie myself so I'm curious myself...
