I once read somewhere that shots taken from upon high looking down to a child gives them a vulnerability in their pose. I think I have something different. (Also to note this image has been edited with Photoshop CS5)
Exif: Focal length: 18.0mm 35mm equivalent 27mm Exposure time: (1/250) Aperture: f/4.0 ISO: 400 Critiques, slams, whatever is greatly appreciated.

I suspect (though I could be way off base) that it is the way she is looking up at the camera. To me the kid photos that look vulnerable are the ones where the kid is looking up with their entire head. I think her looking up with only her eyes gives it a more "I'm up to something" feel.
But that's just my take.
