Our son came to visit from up north and brought his fiancee to introduce to us. Thought I'd use the opportunity and do their engagement photos for them. This is my third set that I've done. I haven't started charging yet, but was wondering if I should. Any suggestions would help.
Camera: Sony A200 F-stop: f/8 Exposure: 1/125 sec ISO: 100

Is there anything specific you want a critique on?
I like the lighting but her arm seems awkward and in an unnatural position. Also this might be personal preference, but I would rather see an off centered photo. Since this is an engagement picture, why not try focusing on the ring? It looks like a gorgeous ring, you could take advantage of that. Beatiful couple

I see what you both mean about the hand...kinda looks broken. I'll keep that in mind in the future. I'm no where near charging, just thought I'd throw that in.
I guess I need to slow down and look at the whole picture closely before snapping. I guess I was looking for some over all suggestions to improve my photos.

I agree with the unnatural positioning of the two. In my opinion, her arm in almost a 90 degree position, and her head tilted away from him looks as though she doesn't want to touch him! They are getting married, so I'm sure that's not the case :-)
Maybe if she was positioned higher (not at same eye level) with him, had her head tilted more toward him, and had both arms wrapped around his shoulders, then the photo would look more natural. I think this is a great pic other than the odd body stance! |

I'm a little bothered that she is in shadows while he is squinting from the sun. The crop seems awkward, too - with his hands unnecessarily cut off. I'm not sure if this is the original composition, but if there was room to crop the picture tighter on the right and give them more space to look into on the left, that would be my preference (framed up similar to what I've attached, but obviously with the rest of the picture filling in the blank space).
The focus is terrific and they are a gorgeous couple. Could you have gone to a larger aperture to throw the background OOF even more? I think the more focus on the couple the better.
