Hi,
Hi
Took this today. She's in a playhouse which means the lighting's a bit off. She's orange. Can this be corrected as I think this is the best I've caught her. Bear in mind, I'm chasing her around the garden snapping away, so settings can be a little haphazard.
Dave

Lol, that's happened to me before as well. So I'm gonna reply even though I don't think I'm qualified.

She's beautiful and her eyes really pop. I would crop it a bit. Maybe crop out the right side of the playhouse a bit, but not entirely. And then straighten the photo to line up with the right side of the playhouse. Yes, she's a bit orange like you said. So I'm wondering if there's something photoshop can't do for that. Play with it. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Thanks Diane, I appreciate your comments and will revisit this picture in pse. Was hoping for some elements 8 tip to adjusting that orangey skin tone and then maybe take a more serious crop closer to her face..............................Anyone? Whaddayathink?

Hi Dave, the orange is actually a color cast from the playhouse thingy she's in. There's not a whole lot you can do about it. I have CS2 and Elements 7, if you'd like I can pull it into Elements and see if there's anything I can do about it, post it and explain what I did (if I'm able to do anything, LOL).

You should be able to fix the skin tone using color balance.
I absolutely adore her curls. I want to snuggle her She looks like loads of fun!

Hi
Thanks Susan, and I'd love it if you could do that for me. Think I reached the limit of my skills about a week ago..lol.
She is loads of fun, as are most lttle ones although being grandad can be hard work and I'm only 45!
Thanks all...Oh, btw I have a B&W of this already...What do you think?

Obviously same camera settings, but used Silver Efex Pro for the B&W

Hi again Dave,

I did find a super tutorial on another forum, but unfortunately it's a long, drawn out one that does fix localized color casts, but requires the use of layer masks and therefore can't be done in Elements. The part that I see the color cast is on the left side of her face, from her hairline, curving down her temple, the edge of her cheek and chin. The rest of her face is actually not that off.

Hope you don't mind I did have a quick play on a BW. When I do conversions in CS2, I use gradient map, but that's also not available in Elements. So while this isn't 100% ideal, I think it works.

I desaturated then used levels to darken the blacks, brighten the whites and brighten the midtones. Then, I cropped to get rid of the distracting bg on her right. If you hate it let me know and I'll take it down.

She is adorable and I love her big eyes and curls!

ETA: Sorry for the funky pixelation - working with a small image size is the cause of that.

Hi,
I like it Susan although the side of the face seems a little 'swollen' The grain is like film and I like that a lot.
Leave it up and see what others think huh?
