Default grrrr....too soft overexposed and head cropped

I realize this picture is way over exposed and the head is partially cropped off. not intentional but i still like the emotion captured. my daughter wouldn't look her daddy in the eyes while telling him a windy story...he was trying to get her to look up and tell her the truth...and of course she was standing in direct sun during this moment lol.

only had a split second to take the pic and my new 50mm 1.8 is taking getting use to with no zoom. forgot to take a couple of steps back to include more in the frame. But i can't help but like it anyway lol.

Is there too much wrong with this picture to make it worth keeping. or is it one of those worth keeping anyway inspite of everything wrong with it.

I would definitely keep it.

The exposure isn't as bad as you make it sound. Yes, there are a few blown highlights, but the exposure overall isn't too bad. The photo, however, is a little soft. There's nothing you can really do about that now other than trying to apply some sharpening in post-processing.

It is an adorable picture, and you captured some real emotion.

thank you nate for you comment. I'm just trying to be so hard on myself right now because i really just want to keep growing and getting better. I know when i took this pic it didn't look soft on my camera screen so I was a little unhappy with how soft and overblown the highlights were when i pulled it up on my computer screen. i find that a lot of times my screen on my camera looks a lot different than my computer...

thank you for your kind words

I also think it's a gorgeous shot, the tight crop is just perfect to capture your daughter's expression. The exposure is only a tiny bit hot, but her face is nicely exposed.

It is a pity that the AF locked onto her hair, but it's not enough to warrant not keeping it. Perhaps a little more sharpening would work.

I absolutely agree with the previous posters, it's a keeper, regardless of the focus and exposure issues. I don't necessarily think the perfect shot is one that is correctly in focus and correctly exposed, I personally love the look of it, and if you do too, that's all that matters =)
