Default My first BnW Portrait

Her name is Sarah.

This is my first BnW portrait. I know there's something I could improve on... I'd highly appreciate the comments. This shot was taken in a cemetery during a photoshoot early morning. I know it's too early for halloween but we just let her be with her make-up and wardrobe. Was using the Sigma 70-300 APO DG lens (like using it for portraits).

Nice work. I think it is a tad dark. Her eyes/irises are on the almost emerging from the darkness...I might try and lighten the image to the point where you see the difference between the iris and black. That will probably gain some additional detail in the lips and hair.

I like! I do agree with zona though some additional detail in the hair (where the blacks mix, her hair and the collar of the blouse) would help. I would have liked to see catch lights in her eyes too. I did have a question though, the left side of the shot (her face) seem more exposed, where you using a reflector on that side?

Nice work!

Thanks for the input Greg. I highly agree with the eyes though; that was a bit difficult for the bnw, she's wearing brown contacts. I wasn't using a reflector, that was the sun.

I absolutely agree. The image needed a bit lightening. Thanks for sharing.
