It looks like motion blur. Can you post your EXIF?

Copied and pasted it for you:

Exposure: 0.017 sec (1/60)
Aperture: f/32.0
Focal Length: 55 mm
ISO Speed: 450
Exposure Bias: -1/3 EV
Flash: On, Return detected

At 1/60th, definitely too slow a shutter speed so it's definitely motion blur. Unfortunately it's not something that can be fixed in post processing.

Just wondering why your aperture was closed all the way down to f/32, your exposure bias was set for -1/3, and you used flash? If your aperture was open quite a bit more and your exposure bias was set at 0, you'd have been able to use a much faster shutter speed and probably wouldn't have needed flash, even for fill. You also would have had a blurrier background and the little girl (who is adorable by the way) wouldn't be as underexposed. Also, not having to use the flash means no pinlights in the eyes.

Hope this helps. Keep shooting!

EXIF data doesn't appear to me, seemingly not embedded.

EDIT: ah now it's been posted. I've heard very often speeds faster than 1/125s are best when photographing people, in order to freeze movement.

My exposure is set to 1/3 step is that ok? I dont know how that got to -1/3 do you?

I always get Aperture confused the smaller the number the blurry the background and shallow depth of field? The larger the number the more the background is in focused and larger depth of field?

Yes, f/2,8 will blur the background more than f/8,0 for instance.

I'd keep your exposure comp set to 0 for now. If you want a slightly overexposed look, just meter for a third of a stop over 0. I have no idea how it got set - I wasn't there when you took the photo, lol.

Yes - with aperture, the smaller the number, the shallower the depth of field. When shooting one kid outdoors, I shoot anywhere from f/1.8 - f5.6, usually. The DOF Calculator is a tremendous help and worth a look!

Thanks I never seem to remember that and have to think about it still.
