I am posting this in this section instead of share your shots because i have seen that more beginners like myself seem to gather here looking for advice on their pictures. just had to share my first picture snapped with my new lens...50mm 1.8...love this piece of glass. I just had to share this shot as it was the first shot with it. so affordable at 100 dollars...and takes some getting use to...because of no zoom. but the quality is so worth it! I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what lens to buy and thanks to all you on this site for recommending this to me! now i feel i can learn more and more with this better lens. go prime! So if you're a beginner like me and looking for a new lens that is cheap but allows you more artistic freedom than the kit lens...i recommend this lens.

I took this picture right as the sun was setting with no flash. I have been clicking pics all day in low light just because i can't believe how fast this lens is to be able to capture shots of my children even moving without the flash in low light....
